So Last Century Vintage and Retro Fair was established in spring 2015, with the first event taking place later that year, in Beckenham, south east London. More followed in 2016, and in 2017 the business opened its largest Vintage Fair at a large independent school, St Dunstan’s College in Catford. The same year, it started Vintage Market at the Mansion, at Beckenham Place Park, which has become one of So Last Century’s most popular venues. In 2018 it held two fairs in Tooting, south London, and in December teamed up with Wembley Park to hold its first event in north west London; a Vintage Christmas Market at Boxpark, next to Wembley Stadium.
So Last Century has become a regular fixture in London’s vintage calendar, popping-up around ten to twelve times a year at several venues across South London
September 2019 saw So Last Century making its first appearance in Croydon, at the much loved and newly re-opened Fairfield Halls. In November that year, again for the first time, it began holding events at Goldsmiths, University of London, in New Cross.
The outbreak of Covid-19 in early 2020 meant real events were curtailed for several months, however this pause saw So Last Century embark on a series of popular Virtual Vintage Fairs, popping up on Instagram, and running on a regular basis throughout the pandemic until spring 2021. This provided an alternative platform for traders to continue selling to the many visitors who tuned in. Real-life events thankfully re-started in April 2o21 at Beckenham, although for other venues it wasn’t possible at the time.
In 2022, following the upheaval caused by the pandemic, it was fantastic to at last get back to ‘business as usual’. Since then, So Last Century has held more events than ever, including bi-annual, weekend-long, indoor fairs taking place at St Dunstan’s College and Goldsmiths, and its summer season of vintage markets in Beckenham Place Park. AMP Studios in Peckham is the newest So Last Century venue, with six successful events held here since December 2021.
